Background
The client, one of the leading players in the global Pharma industry and already a customer of Landoor’s, commissions us with the English to Italian translation of a series of HTML files that make up the content of a remote training course for its sales reps. The course consists of a series of sheets and multimedia files regarding an illness, with intermediate self-assessment tests and a final quiz.
The challenge
The traditional process involves the extraction and conversion of the HTML files into “translatable” formats, i.e. formats which can be imported into a CAT tool so the translation team can carry out its work using the client’s termbase. Once the translation is completed in the CAT, the files undergo an additional process to reassemble and correctly lay out the Italian sheets, and are then reconverted back into HTML files. It is a very laborious process which involves lots of variables and does not guarantee respect for the client’s deadlines.
The solution
Landoor suggests managing the project with the Learning Management System platform which supports the .story format from which it is possible to extrapolate a Word or XLIFF file compatible with the CAT. That’s not all: the platform also makes it possible to quickly adapt the structure of the sheets (texts, images, tables, links and even multimedia files) without any errors. Once the files have been laid out again, the conversion back into HTML takes just a few seconds. The new file is delivered to the client ready for publication without any need for further adjustment.
The result
The client implemented Landoor’s innovative workflow process to manage its e-learning projects on the platform by providing .story files. By streamlining the workflow we speeded up the translation process and the quality control phase and the client has an impeccable and rapid service at a lower cost.
